Dr Crispian Neill is a Wellcome Trust ISSF Fellow at the University of Leeds, and was awarded his PhD in 2017. The title of his thesis is ‘The Smell of Modernism: Metaphor and the Olfactory, 1900-1945’. His current research project, funded by the Wellcome Trust, is ‘Olfactory Diagnosis and Disgust: The Representation and Significance of Smell in Medicine, 1800-Present’.
